Off to See the Wizard - Our Last Day in Port Hedland

Monday was our final day staying with our friends in Port Hedland.

While they went to work, we did a final catch up and bit of maintenance on the van in readiness for the next part of our adventures.
We went to open one of our cupboard doors after our rough dirt road and it wouldn’t open.  We knew this was an issue that can happen, so Mick had worked out a solution ages ago.  You just tap out a couple of pins and it comes off……..except this time one of the pins wouldn’t come out.  We had also bought spare catches ages ago, so after a bit of fiddling to finally open the door, the new catch was installed.  We then spent the morning removing every door latch to make sure that the part that sometimes works loose was nice and tight.  Most were, but one was very loose and would probably have caused grief before too much longer. A good job to do. Other than that, all has been travelling well and was looking good.

After we did the washing, fuelled up and did the groceries, we were good to go again.

The final thing for the day was to cook a chook in the camp oven.  It was delicious.  It also justified bringing the camp oven all this way, as we haven’t had a chance to use it up until then and don’t think we will get another opportunity.  And, of course, I forgot to take a photo.  Blast!

The highlight of the day was the chook.

Glad you got to use the oven and I'm assuming a chook is a chicken, right?

Great to get the maintenance done. Road chook is the best.
