Another Adventure

Today I knocked off work at lunchtime so that we can start another adventure.

We headed south and it wasn't long until we started to see golden paddocks of canola.  They are a stunning sight in the spring time.

There was lots of traffic on the road from Cowra to Young as the Newell Highway is still cut with flooding between Forbes and Wet Wyalong.  There was lots of water lying in paddocks. This picture was taken looking out of the window near Gundagai.

The countryside looked lovely and green.  Very scenic.  You just wouldn't want to drive across any of the paddocks or you would get bogged rather quickly.

There were lovely colours as the afternoon progressed.

As the evening closed in we hoped to see a stunning sunset, but it was getting rather cloudy by then.   This is the best photo I could take as we drove down the Hume Freeway. Too many trees on the sides of the roads.

Then, about a minute after I took the sunset photo this happened. Yes, it started to rain.  Fortunately, it was only scattered showers, and it has now stopped.

We are now settled in a motel in Benalla.  Tomorrow our adventure starts for real.

Modern HST Sampler Progressing Nicely - Blocks 16 &17

I haven't shared an update on my Modern HST Sampler blocks for a while, but I have been plugging along.

Firstly, Alyce from Blossom Hearts Quilts, who is hosting this quilt along, has asked for blocks 7 - 12 to be shared here, so here goes.  Pop over and see all the other interpretations.  They all look fabulous.

I'm rather liking how it is turning out, now that the blocks are getting more detailed.

Next is Block 16 - Whirly-Gig

This was released 3 weeks ago, but I only finished it late last week, slack me.

Yesterday Block 17 - Cross Angle was released.

I got in nice and early and finished it last night.

So once again I am completely up to date.  Not the best shot of all the blocks, but it is a bit hard to find an area large enough to lay it out.  The simpler blocks give the eye somewhere to rest among the more detailed blocks.  Now to wait for another fortnight before the next block is released.
