2016 in Review - Part 1

Happy New Year!

Here we are in 2017, so time to look back on the last twelve months before looking forward to the next.  We seemed to have a very busy year, but then again, we say that every year.

JANUARY

Early in the month we joined a group of motor cyclists and rode to the Snowy Mountains for the weekend.

We saw some lovely countryside and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I mad a fine start with some sewing, making some ham bags, a bag to store our new Christmas tree and added some colourful pockets to my blue dress.

I started work on the Modern HST Sampler stitch along.

Our garden started to produce veges and rhubarb.  On Australia Day we attended a local event with the Historic Car Club and we came across some vintage tractors ploughing a paddock.

What I didn't blog about at the time was an outing we went on to Mayfield Gardens with Mick's mum and aunt.  It is a truly stunning place, even in the height of summer.

FEBRUARY

February saw the Swap Meet come around again.  We had a small stall, and sold Doug the old Douglas motorcycle, which we had owned for 25 years.

Only a little bit of stitching.  Finally finishing a place mat for Mum and making the third block for the HST Sampler.

The main focus of the month was our trip to Tasmania on the bike. We travelled across the top, down the west coast and them back up the middle.  We visited some lovely places.

We then spent a week based at Launceston for the Ulysses Rally.  Mick finally got to ride up the spectacular Jacob's Ladder, tour the Boags Brewery and we visited various other historic sites.

Tasmania is truly a great place to visit.

The rest of the month was spent focusing on our impending move to our new home.

MARCH

Normally a feature of March is to attend Girl's Day in the Country at Nundle, but this time I decided to cancel, as it would have been straight home from Tassie, then to Nundle, then moving. All in a couple of weeks.  Something had to give, so Nundle it was.

We  moved in just before Easter, so that kept us busy for the rest of the month and quite a bit more.  Most of those boxes in my sewing room still need to be unpacked.  It will happen......one day.

More to come soon.
