Sailing Away

We've had a lovely day today.  The weather was much cooler, which made travel more pleasant.

After our liesurely breakfast we packed up camp and headed over to the local Euroa Farmers Markets.

The weren't large but they had some wonderful produce.

Mick was taken with the cigar box guitars.

All we could buy was additions to our picnic lunch.

We bought figs from this couple.  Yummo.

Apple and Walnut sourdough scrolls from this stall.

After our wander we headed off towards the Yarra Valley via the town of Yea.  A wander up and down the street was required and we found a rather sweet little shop down a side alley, called "Nice".  It was rather nice too.

Lots of nice things could have found their way home if we had the room.

I was rather taken with these tiles too.

We then followed the road south, through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and kept going until we could go no further without getting wet.  There was no rhyme or reason to our route and we ended up at Mordialloc, which had a kiosk with good coffee and a nice long pier to walk along.

From here we turned right and followed the coast road along.  We were delighted at how quiet the road was, after all the traffic lights we encountered as we travelled south. (There was probably a freeway we could have followed, but that would have been too simple.)  We had a lovely sea view to the left and rather tasty houses on our right.

As we rode along Mick noticed some bathing boxes.  Of course we pulled over to have a look. It turns out they are the famous Brighton Bathing Boxes. This was a very happy surprise, as for some reason I thought that Brighton was on the Mornington Peninsula. It goes to show how little I know about Victoria.

Of course I had to take a pic of the one with the Aussie flag that you often see in the media, even though some girls were busy having their photo taken.

The beaches became increasingly busy and at one area there were heaps of para gliders and windsurfers.

We kept travelling along eventually reaching our destination.  Doers this give you a clue?

Yes, we were to hop on a big boat.

We are currently in our cabin heading towards Tasmania for the next two weeks.  The Ulysses Club AGM Rally will be held for a week in Launceston in a week's time.

There are 128 bikes on the ferry, with a total of about 5,000 sailing to Tassie over a two week period.

We enjoyed a lovely sunset and twilight scenery as we left Melbourne.

I'll keep you posted as we travel around.  It should be great fun.

Looks like a very special "biker" holiday for you two over in Tassie! I'll be reading with interest, as we took a Tasmania holiday many years ago so I'm sure it will rekindle lots of my memories.

Have fun and drive safely.
