Splendid Sampler II - Flowering Tree

Getting this week's block stitched straight away is definitely a bonus.  We are all packed, ready to head off on our adventure tomorrow, so there was time to spare.

I was hoping it would be an easy block as anything time consuming would not get finished.

This week's block is "Flowering Tree" by Amy Friend.  I haven't done a great deal of foundation paper piecing, so had to have a little look at a tutorial.  This one by Carol Doak was quite helpful.

Of course I had to find a floral fabric, which wasn't too hard given the style I'm using. After a false start by placing my first piece of fabric upside down, it came together rather easily.  Another technique that I've gained a little more confidence in.

Now the machine is packed away until we get back from our trip and I'm off to bed, as tomorrow is a big day.

Beautiful block... I have to admit I don't really enjoy foundation piecing but it does give a good finish...

Looking forward to hearing about the trip... have fun
