What I Hope to do in April

Normally, I can make plans for a month having a good idea of what lies ahead.  Just now, who knows what that will be, as it seems to change nearly daily.  Having said that, I still want to set some goals for the month, and if something happens that they don't get achieved, it really doesn't matter.

Firstly, on the stitching front.

I really didn't know what goal I wanted to set for this month.  I had a rather lofty idea, but decided not to put pressure on myself.

In the end I decided to finish another UFO that has been languishing in a box for many years, maybe about ten years.  It is an adaptation of a Bareroots pattern called "Happy Thoughts".  It appeared in one of the craft magazines.  I no longer have the pattern, but there are several photos of completed versions following the pattern correctly on Pinterest.

I thought it would be a nice sentiment for what is a trying time for everyone.  You can't really see it clearing in the photo, but there is lots of embroidery still to be done.  That, as always, is why it came to a standstill.

This will also be my WOOFA project for the month.

Tomorrow night is Friday Night With Friends, so I will start working on it then.

The RSC colour for April is light and bright blue.

I will make my very drunk drunkard's path blocks, but no pineapple block this month. I only need nine blocks for my cushion cover, and used light blues last month, not having teal in 1930s fabrics.  That gives me a bit of a breather.

There are five Wednesdays in April, so there will be five blocks.  I hope to continue to keep up to date.

I hope to make progress on Splendid Sampler 2.  I won't stipulate what, or how much, just to make progress.

In the background Lou and I will continue to make a Christmas project each month.  I've no idea what I will be making, so it will be a surprise for everyone at the end of the month.

Of course, there will hopefully be a couple of finishes, at least, at the end of the month.

As Scrub Stitchin' didn't happen, Chooky has organised us all to have a virtual stitch along on Easter Saturday.  That should be great fun.  Something to look forward to.

There are a few stitch alongs popping up as a response to COVID-19 lockdowns.  It will be interesting to see what is on offer.  You never know, I may start something new.....not that I need to.  We'll see.

Now, onto my other non-stitching goals for the month.

Two of my usual goals are now unattainable, as we can't go motorcycling or have any weekends away in the caravan.  The government today announced that we are in lock down until at least the end of June.  So sad.  Once we are able to get out and about again, we will really appreciate the freedom.  In the mean time, we just do whatever we have to do to keep this virus in check.

1. Read a book - Last month I was going to read "The Book Thief" and didn't.  I'll try to read it this month.  If not that book, I at least want to read a book.

2. I was hoping to try a new recipe each month, but last month decided to just bake something.  In the end I did bake a new recipe.  This month I hope to bake a new recipe as well.  I already have one in mind.

3. We hope to go for a walk at least four times a week.  Daylight saving finishes this weekend, so evening strolls will be a thing of the past and mornings are a bit hectic.  We will need all the exercise we can get, seeing as we can't get out and about.

That's not very much, but the best I can do at the moment.  Of course, I could clean out cupboards, organise things etc. etc. etc., but there's no fun in that.

I'm off now to link up with Elm Street Quilts.

We all need "Happy Thoughts" to help us through this time. Keep sewing, and cooking, and enjoying those afternoon teas with hubby.

I think it's great having to achieve a goal... otherwise everyday life could become extremely mundane. We quilters are luckier than most... we always have some fabric to play with...lol
Stay safe...xox

I am sure you will meet your goals, what ever they turn out to be. Looking forward to the Easter sewing 😁, we just have to adapt and do the best we can at present. Looking forward to seeing more stitchery on your Happy thoughts project.

Great plans even if some you normally do like outings can't be included.... I think it is really showing me what things I take for granted and should appreciate more... virtual sewing groups are popping up.. it's great and a good source of support at the moment... looking forward to seeing what you make...

The only cupboard worth cleaning out are the pantry and maybe the fabric stash or bathroom if you are missing something or seeing what needs using urgently.
Happy sewing and Thanks for leaving me comments they make my day!

Hopefully I'll get to join in t=with Friday nights for a while, as we should have no guests, surprise or otherwise and no appointments either.
Have fun with your goals.
