2021 - Looking Forward

Welcome to 2021!

The universal hope is that this year will be better than the last, but if there is one thing that we have learnt, it is that we shouldn't plan ahead too much on anything, as things can change rather quickly.

Having said that, I am looking forward to a great year ahead, whatever it may bring, now that we have started to get into the new pattern of our lives, since Mick has been retired for a year.

Last year I set some goals for stitching and fun other things that I would like to achieve each month.  It really worked well, so I intend to do something similar this year. If they come to fruition that is great, but if they don't, no worries.  It is supposed to be fun, not a chore.
I have pondered what I would like to achieve this year in the way of stitching and do need to be mindful not to set goals that are too ambitious and therefore unachievable. I had made a list a little while ago, but having re read it, will pare it back quite a bit. This is what I have ended up with.

I intend to once again take part in One Monthly Goal. It has worked so well for me over the last couple of years.  My goal each month can be as ambitious or simple as I like, whatever works best for me at the time.
I still have a bit more to go to finish Block Heads 3.  I'm looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
Last year I really enjoyed participating in Cheryll's WOOFA Challenge, so will do so again this year.  I believe there will be a few changes to the format going forward, so look forward to seeing what they are.

On that front, I am classing any project that is not finished now to be a UFO, even if it is an ongoing project.  Sadly, that means that my list of UFOs has grown a bit, but will give me plenty of options on projects to work on during the year.
Kris is once again hosting One Project a Month.  This has now been going for 12 years, which is quite a feat. I'm hoping to have something to report each month.  We will see how we go.
Lou and I are once again having a little Christmas stitching challenge and I believe there will be a few more joining in this year as well, which will be fun.

With a bit of luck, I will be able to combine several of the above while working on one project.  That will make life simpler.
I have joined in a new stitch along this month using Vintage Linens run by Rhonda Dort.  It only runs for a couple of months and I am really looking forward to taking part.

I have decided not to participate in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this year, as I don't know what to make and have so many other projects that I wish to work on.

There are also lots of other projects sitting in the wings, just waiting for their time to shine.  I hope to work on some of them this year, rather than take on another long term stitchalong. We'll see how strong I am.

Hopefully, Zoom get togethers will continue, so I will need to work out a hand stitching project to work on during those days.

That little lot should keep me busy for a while.

Away from stitching, I don't want to plan too much.

Travel will remain up in the air.  We do have a couple of things in the back of our minds, but it they come off it will be a bonus.  Generally, we will be looking to stay closer to home.  Having said that, we would like to continue to use our caravan as much as we can.

Friday Fun Day worked so well last year.  We plan as many appointments and jobs as we can for Thursdays, which hopefully leaves Fridays as a free day.  If we can have one day of doing "Something"  each month we will be very happy.  It can be something as simple as visiting the art gallery or going for a drive, or can be a day out somewhere.

I would like it if we can get to use the motorcycles more this year, but will just take it as it comes.

I definitely would like to continue to read at least one book a month.

Trying a new recipe each month is also something I would like to continue.

Spending time in the garden is another priority.
So, looking at all of that, we have another busy year ahead.

It will be interesting to look back in twelve month's time to see how I went.

That's a great list of plans for 2021.
When Robin and I were lunching out yesterday he commented that we should do this more often. So I mentioned your Friday Fun Days where you go out exploring. Perhaps we could do something similar too, there are plenty of interesting places relatively close by to explore.
