Flea Market Finds

For once I haven’t been anywhere to find any interesting bits and bobs, so I thought I’d share some older finds.

I was never all that fond of dolls as a child and never had many.  However, I always marvelled at the character doll collections that some of my school friends had.

These beautiful ladies were found at our favourite church fete a few years ago.   Now I have my own instant collection.  They cost next to nothing and are nice a colourful on our bookcase.

There are lots of other flea market finds over at Sophie’s.

I love them - so long as their eyes don't follow you when you walk into a room! The way their eyes open and close makes me a little uneasy - I think I've watched a few too many horror movies. Gorgeous little outfits.

isn't it funny how often we come to love the things we were never very much interested in as a child ...

You've brought back a bunch of lovely memories for me!! When I was a little girl in UK I had a collection of 'foreign dolls' - about 40 or so of them :o). Yours look just like some of them :o)
Hugs,
Joy :o)

The best thing about these dolls is the stories they could tell and the questions they pose - "who brought them to Australia?" Who were they for?" "Were the travellers holidaying or visiting family?" - I love the idea of all that - now you can look at your collection and make up stories for them!

It's amazing I have some of these dolls. I have been collecting dolls since I was a young girl and have a couple in your photo and have had them for over 30yrs. My dolls live in a cabinet in my loungeroom.
