Now that March is here it is time to select a UFO to finish for March OMG hosted by Elm Street Quilts.
I've decided to finish up a couple of place mats I started several years ago - like 2013. I really don't know why I didn't finish them back then, as they will be lovely, but we will remedy that now.
I received a couple of mini charm packs with a magazine subscription, one being this lovely French General range. That provides the exact amount to make a two place mats and two coasters. I took my inspiration from a photo I found on Pinterest and am just winging it. All I need to do is sew the half hexies to the ends of the rows of hexies and then applique them to the base fabric, quilt and bind. Then I just need to applique a single hexy onto two coasters. It should be a very achievable goal for the month, which will be somewhat busy.
It's great to have the encouragement to get things finished by being a part of OMG and OPAM. Thanks girls.
I'm sad to say that I have to shop for some fabric today. Can you believe that I can't find any cream homespun in my sewing room? Any number of patterned cream fabrics, but nothing plain. Blast!! I had been hoping to keep on my fabric diet much longer. Now I just have to make sure that I don't get distracted by any pretties and buy something else. Of course, you know that I will find some once I buy it, don't you. I'll just buy a fat quarter.
I'm linking up with Elm Street Quilts.

The place mats look like they are going to be great Janis. I think 2018 is a finishing year for many of us. Enjoy finishing the placemat.

Your place mats and coasters are going to look very pretty.
Oh Janice I just love that reddish French General and what gorgeous place mats that will make. Sorry to hear you have to break your fabric diet; I'm surprised how often that happens to me even though I think I am building a good stash.
Great placemats. Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck on your project.
