Finally, on Saturday the big day of the Abba Festival arrived.
After another leisurely start, we wandered up to the main street to see what was happening, but there wasn't much. You see, the event format has changed a bit, with nearly everything at Berryman Oval.
A lovely retro train had arrived in town with Abba fans, and I believe a second one arrived later. A lot of busloads of fans arrive during the day too.
These girls were in all the gear.
This shop was in the theme, even with pink petrol bowser.
We went wandering up more streets and found more interesting things.
As the main event wasn't happening until the afternoon, after visiting the market stalls, we returned to our camp for lunch, where Mick noticed this spider. We hadn't seen one like it before, but upon doing a bit research discovered it is a male Mouse Spider and is dangerous, venomous and has a painful bite. I think we will leave him there.
Now to go back to the Abba Festival.
There were certainly some colourful costumes.
The hosts "Sven" and "Frida" were great value.
There were some terrific performers, including Ben Ransom.
We took our glow sticks from Canowindra along and a lady beside us and Mick had fun with them.
Then "Bjorn Again" took to the stage and the crowd erupted.
Mick and I had fun with our light bars.
The crowd was huge.
And then it was all over. They are such polished performers and will be the closest we get to seeing Abba.
There was another band on afterwards, but we decided to go back to the van and sit in front of the fire bucket with a nice hot bowl of soup, as the weather was decidedly chilly.
And so ended another year's visit to Trundle.....and this morning the start of the next part of our holiday.....bring it on.
What a fantastic ABBA festival with many folk getting into the atmosphere by dressing up in their fab costumes...
ReplyDeleteOh I would have to have stomped on that spider 🕷 in case it found its way in the van....
Wow, what a great concert. I REALLY want a ride in the ABBA train, that's really arriving in style.
ReplyDeletewhat a hoot... (except for the spider which I scrolled past quickly).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of the holiday...
