Scrub Stitchin - Special Events

It was a bit of fun to celebrate not one, but two birthdays this year.  Annette’s on Wednesday, followed by Betty’s on Thursday.

Of course, there had to be cake, but they did have to share.  They then each had to wear the birthday girl sash on their respective days.

The other main event is always the themed Saturday Night Dinner. This year the theme was “Stars”.

While the room was being decorated, everyone else was banished to a nice shady area to enjoy nibbles.  Of course I forgot to take a photo.

We were then treated to a magnificent sunset before going to get “Dressed for Dinner”. The colours got more and more intense the longer we watched.  Just beautiful.

As we entered the room we were greeted by a sparkling wonderland.

The table looked lovely.

There were some clever outfits.  Here are just a few.

Tina and Harriet always come up with very creative costumes.  This time it was “Star Wars”.  We were even treated to a light sabre duel, accompanied by the Star Wars theme music.  We had star themed music playing throughout the evening.

I had plans on wearing a jumper I knitted when I was 16 that features a star on the front.  However, I was unable to find it.  So, at the last minute I rustled up some fairly lights and Mick pinned them to a black t-shirt.  It was funny seeing Christine had the same idea, but executed much better, complete with star shaped fairly lights.

After our delicious roast dinner and our “Make it or Fake it” swap it was back to the stitching.  We were on a mission.

It really was a great evening.

I must tell you, Mick helped set up the room for dinner and was standing on a ladder or such to hang the lights from the ceiling.  He commented that he should have taken a photo of our “creative space” from on high.  Apparently it looked such a mess, but you need to make a mess to make something beautiful, don’t you.
