Yesterday Chooky hosted another Zoom get together for the Chookshed Stitchers. It was a really fun day with over 30 girls joining in throughout the day, some of whom have not popped in for a while. As we got chatting a new challenge evolved for next year.
Deana from Dreamworthy Quilts has kindly offered to administer a stitching challenge for the Chookshed Stitchers and anybody else who would like to join in.
Here is the information:
If you would like to join, make a list of ten sewing related items or goals you want to work on in 2024, and post it to your blog on or before January 1st. You can join late, but the first number will be posted January 1st. Each month, January through October, Deana will draw a number. That will be the number from our list we all work on together in blogland. Blog your progress through the month to keep us all motivated.
Your list can include any sewing goal you set for yourself. Make it reachable. Here are some ideas:
- finish a project (name the project)
- work on a project (name the project)
- make a block (name the project)
- start a new project - can be open to any new start
Your goals can be whatever you choose. One member of the group plans to make three lists - one for sewing, one for yarn projects, and one for decluttering.
Post a comment on Deana's blog or Chookyblue's blog if you want to join. Deana will add links to everyone's blogs on her blog. Feel free to add the links to your blogs as well so we can find each other.
MY GOALS
I had to have a bit of a think about this, as I have already set myself some goals for the year and these should probably fit in with those. Also, as the numbers will be drawn at random throughout the year, I didn't want to include anything that is time sensitive. Having said that, if I manage to actually finish one of the listed items before it comes up, I will just substitute another. In the end I did add a couple of projects that weren't on my other list, but, hey, what the heck. Here goes:
1. Laundry Basket Quilt 2023 Spring Mystery Quilt (progress)
2. Sparkly Dragonfly Quilt (start and finish - for donation)
3. English Paper Piecing (work on any project)
4. Make a panel quilt (start and finish - for donation)
5. New Zealand Project (work on any New Zealand inspired project)
6. 2023 Scrub Stitchin' Bag (start and try to get as much done as possible)
7. Three Yard Quilt (start and finish - for donation)
8. Anni Downs 2023 Christmas Stitchery (stitch and hopefully make a small project)
9. Harry Potter Quilt (start and finish - for donation)
10. Koala Baby Quilt (start and finish - for donation)
What a great list!!! I wonder who the crazy person was putting down 3 lists lol!!! Still - decluttering was a big must for me for next year so easier to just have it all listed....... and now I have a dedicated blog page for it so I can easily find it!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of us on zoom together!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea. Reminds me when I used to "follow the dice" to get projects moving along, maybe I should get back to that.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I have only just read your previous post. Happy New year to you Both.
ReplyDeleteAt our P and Q we have a list called Top 5, where you list the projects you are aiming to complete. There are quarterly small prizes drawn from the list of those who show they have completed a project.
Thanks for being a faithful reader and commentor. I appreciate hearing from you.
and I forgot to say it was great to see so many on zoom..........
ReplyDeleteA great list Janice - have fun with it!!
