The purpose of our drive north was to catch up with Loulee at Ramsey. A couple of other girls came along for the ride too. Lou was thrilled to get to meet Peg and Dale “in the flesh” and hopes to catch up with them again some time in the future.
We went to visit Milntown Estate, which is large house and grounds which was bequeathed to the people of the Island. It was ideal having Lou with us, as she had spent quite a bit of time in the gardens in her childhood.
I always love kitchen gardens and this one was at its peak when we visited.
Mine never looks this good, but I think it has something to do with the lack of time I spend in it.
Aha! A bee sat still for me.
A little stream runs through the estate with a mill built over it.
Of course, if you have a mill, you need a mill pond.
You never know what you will find in the woods.
Cute.
The formal walled gardens were a picture.
Anyone would think that dahlias are one of my favourite flowers. There were some stunning and unusual varieties.
Once we had finished looking at the gardens Lou took us to some other interesting places around Ramsey.
How lovely to catch up in such a beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. Wish I could have been with you both.
ReplyDeleteThe gardens change every time I go in them now. Those lovely seats were new to me this time, it seemed a great place to meet the girls.
